Spouse and minor children accompanying an F-1 student are entitled to admission to F-2 if the student is admitted to F-1. A spouse and a minor child who joins an F-1 student are entitled to admission to the United States in F-2 if they can prove that the F-1 student was admitted within 30 days and is enrolled or has undergon recognized practical training after graduation. In both cases, the spouse and minor children of an F-1 student must, at the time of registration, provide a SEVIS I-20 form issued in the name of each F-2 beneficiary and issued by a school accredited by the Foreign F-1 Student Participation Service. Before August 1, 2003, if the circumstances are established, the service authorizes the entry into the United States of an F-1 student in possession of a SEVIS I-20 form, along with a copy of the F-1 student`s SEVIS I-20 form. (For family members applying for admission to the United States before August 1, 2003, a copy of the current F-1 student`s current Form I-20, issued before January 30, 2003 and duly approved by the DSO. A new SEVIS I-20 form (or form I-20A-B) is required for an addict whose latest information about F-1 students has changed significantly.
